Our private coil fitting service is broken down into two appointments, so that we can ensure everything runs smoothly and safely. You will have a consultation first with one of our trained professionals to check that you are suitable for a contraceptive coil insertion. After your consultation, your second appointment will be your private coil fitting. Feel free to ask any questions during your consultation and your medical professional will give you all the relevant information, date and time of your contraceptive coil fitting.

Note: Those who have never experienced childbirth can find coil insertion uncomfortable and may need to be referred for the contraceptive coil fitting to be performed under anaesthetic, although this is rare.
Patients sometimes will provide their own coil having received an NHS (N. Ireland) or GMS (Ireland) prescription from their GP. We are happy to fit coils provided by patients.

You can provide your own coil via your NHS (N Ireland) or GMS (Ireland) GP. Alternatively we can provide a Copper Coil IUD or Hormonal Coil (IUS) at additional cost.
